Juvéderm®
What is Juvéderm®?
Juvéderm® Filler is a US FDA approved treatment, produced by Allergan, a leader in aesthetic injectables. The Juvéderm® Filler has a smooth, gel-like consistency and is made of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA hydrates and nourishes the skin, while adding volume, brightening, and softening it, contributing to a more youthful overall appearance.
There are several products in the Juvéderm® family, each with different bonding and concentrations of HA, tailored to target specific problems when injected into different areas and depths. Juvéderm® Voluma, Volift, and Volbella are the most advanced, versatile, and long-lasting.
Juvéderm® Voluma is most commonly used to add volume to deep areas of the face, such as the upper cheekbones and sometimes on nasolabial folds.
Juvéderm® Volift is intended for use in more superficial areas and for patients with thinner skin.
Juvéderm® Volbella is usually used in delicate areas such as the lips and, under the eyes in some cases.

What Are Facial Fillers?
Facial fillers are injectable treatments used to address signs of aging by restoring volume, smoothing wrinkles, and enhancing facial contours. These fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin that helps maintain hydration and elasticity.
There are different types of facial fillers, each with varying bonding and concentrations of hyaluronic acid. These differences allow them to target specific concerns based on the treatment area and depth of injection. Facial fillers have a smooth, gel-like consistency and are commonly used for facial rejuvenation.
- Volumizing Fillers – Used to restore lost volume in deeper areas of the face, such as the cheekbones and nasolabial folds.
- Superficial Fillers – Designed for more delicate areas and for individuals with thinner skin.
- Lip & Eye Fillers – Typically used for lip enhancement and, in some cases, to improve the appearance of under-eye hollows.

How Does Juvéderm® work?
Juvéderm® Filler adds volume to the facial tissue by using hyaluronic acid (HA) as its active ingredient.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a natural substance in our body that nurtures the growth of connective tissue, which plumps our skin (collagen).
Juvéderm® Filler is injected beneath the skin to fill the dermis’ soft tissue. The hyaluronic acid (HA) instantly adds volume to the face tissues, reducing the appearance of fine lines and facial folds.
The filler is then broken down by the body and eventually disappear.
Why Juvéderm®?
Juvéderm® Filler is easier to shape and sculpt than collagen since it is smoother. With Juvéderm® Filler, lumpiness and uneven shapes are significantly improved.
Juvéderm® Filler can also last 3 times longer than collagen and is softer and more natural-looking than traditional fillers.
Juvéderm® Filler helps:
- Recreate structure and/or fullness of the lips
- Recreate or build definition of the cheekbones and jawline
- Minimize under-eye hollowing
- Minimize smile lines
- Restore or create fullness in the cheeks

With Juvéderm®, you can see results immediately. And when the Juvéderm® Filler softens and draws moisture into the area, your appearance will continue to improve for 1-2 weeks.
The effects of Juvéderm® treatment might last anywhere from 12 to 18 months, depending on the area and amount of treatment as well as the condition of your skin. Highly mobile parts like the lips, for example, usually require at least a touch-up treatment after 6 months. After 12-18 months, areas with fewer motions may only require additional therapy. Experience has shown that smaller amounts of Juvéderm® are needed for maintenance than for the initial correction.
Although needles are used, most patients find the nonsurgical fillers treatment to be tolerable. A little quantity of lidocaine is included in some Juvéderm® Filler, which numbs the region and reduces pain and discomfort. To improve patient comfort, numbing cream might be used before to the procedure.
There is little to minimal downtime. You should be able to resume your daily activities after Juvéderm® Filler treatment. However there might be some temporary bruising and swelling at the injection site.
There are no known side effects but there may be some bruising or swelling at the injection site, but this is just temporary for a few days.
